Val di Fassa

Where Sport and Nature Combine in a Perfect Dance

While on holiday in Moena you can enjoy all the excitement of the Val di Fassa

The Val di Fassa stretches out right in the heart of the Alps and surrounded by the spectacular Dolomites, in the North-East area of the Trentino region. The Avisio stream, a tributary of the river Adige runs through this valley that starts in Moena and which is the continuation of the neighbouring Val di Fiemme.

A cross-country skiing piste in winter, a bike path in summer

There is a long bike path that goes from Canazei to Cavalese which is the highest in Europe. This is a 60-km route entirely consisting of downhill slopes, without having to struggle and in this way you are also able to see the entire Val di Fassa. By taking the appropriate bus, at that point you can return to the hotel without having to cover also the uphill stretch of the bike path. This is an option that an increasing number of people choose and which they find extremely enjoyable.

In winter this bike path becomes the most convenient cross-country skiing piste (skiing enthusiasts will certainly know that the legendary Marcialonga is held in Moena).

Other sports that can be practised in the Val di Fassa

The Val di Fassa is a great outdoor gym both in summer and in winter, considering that there are endless list of sports that can be practised among the mountains in the Trentino area.

  • Trekking and Nordic walking
  • Rock climbing and free climbing
  • Mountain biking
  • Hang-gliding and para-gliding (if you are not experts, you can try a flight in a 2-seater paraglider)
  • Horse-riding
  • Exercise routes: all the pleasure of strolling in the woods with the possibility of carrying out exercises in certain staging points.

Natural parks

Allow yourself to become enchanted by the Paneveggio Natural Park where there are also some malgas (Alpine farmsteads) where you can taste local products and buy the famous “Il puzzone di Moena” cheese (Literally “the smelly cheese of Moena)- and by the Sciliar – Catinaccio Natural Park that also includes the famous Rosengarten (the rose garden), an endless chain of indented summits, sharp peaks and pinnacles, the rocks of which, during the day from dawn to dusk, change colour to assume warm shades of pink, proposing a spectacular, unrivalled panorama.

Other ideas to make your holiday unique

Why don’t you try a ride on a snowmobile or a horse-drawn sleigh? You can reach the malgas in winter in order to enjoy exclusive candlelit dinners: this and much more makes your holiday in Moena, the Fairy of the Dolomites.
